The University of Economics in Bratislava (UEBA) is nowadays considered one of the most important educational and scientific-research institutions in the Slovak Republic. The UEBA is a public Higher Education Institution focusing on Economics, Business, and Management.

Established in 1959 as the second classical University in Slovakia. Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice provides higher education based on the newest scientific findings in a wide international context. Established in 1949, The University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice (UVMP in Košice), established as the Veterinary College in Košice, is the sole university for veterinary education in the Slovak Republic, which is provided both to domestic and foreign students, and one of the two universities offering education in pharmacy. UVMP in Košice is a one faculty university providing undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate veterinary education and pharmaceutical education.

The University of Prešov in Prešov is a public university and, within the framework of comprehensive accreditation, it has defended the  status of a university and its previous inclusion among university universities. According to the latest published number of university students, it has become the third largest university in Slovakia. It offers a wide range of study programs, many of which are unique in Slovakia.

The Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (STU) is a modern research and higher education institution. It continues a legacy of the 260-year-old Mining Academy in Banská Štiavnica, where the foundations of vocational and practical learning were established. STU offers education in technical fields and involves students in research in natural sciences, computer sciences, construction, architecture, materials technologies, chemistry and food technologies.

The University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius was established on 1st August 1997. The University of Trnava in Trnava is a modern, attractive educational and scientific institution with a tradition following the historic Universitas Tyrnaviensis, which was founded in 1635. It offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral study programs in the fields of philosophical, social and human sciences, pedagogy, law, healthcare and theology.
