Peru might not be world famous for its nightlife like its other South American neighbors are, but do not underestimate Peru. The nightlife in this nation is as spicy as its rocoto rellenos. Peruanos enjoy to party, and the nights get pretty lively than any other time.
Here is a review from one of our RocApply agents:
“After a bender that took nearly the entire month of November, I can confirm: Peru knows how to party.
These are the best cities to party in this country. Like yes, I’m sure that I should probably have the lively coastal town of Chiclayo on here as opposed to Huacachina: Population Gringo. However, a lot of Peru’s biggest cities, and therefore, most lively party cities, are not along the backpacker trail. So yeah, keep that in mind.
The Peruvian is usually jovial, likes to dance, sing, and celebrate. In big cities, it is easy to find opportunities to go out at night, in bars, clubs and the famous peñas, bar/restaurants with Peruvian live music. Almost all of the four million tourists that visit Peru each year end up in Lima and Cusco. That means several a business in both cities caters to tourists and gringos.
As such, there’s a distinctly international vibe throughout the bars and clubs in Miraflores, Cusco, and even Arequipa. The bars and clubs in Peru tend to be Western-style if you stay in the upscale, tourist areas. This means more open spaces, more mingling, and people engaging with each other around the bar.
We aren’t in small-town Colombia where all the clubs burst to the brim with tables and large groups of co-workers. It’s pretty easy to socialize with randoms, making new friends out of locals and Peruvians alike.”
Types of Music
As the global vibe is strong throughout Peru, you will find a variety of music. It is not like Cali, Colombia, where all you have got is salsa and more salsa music. Peru has just everything. Typically, reggaeton and electronic hits are the most well-known types of music played here.
A little hip-hop and rock are enjoyed at certain spots, while you can find salsa and Bachata in others. If you’re after a quick culture fix so you can tell your mother how cultivated you are, then look for a live show of traditional music. You will find these in the tourist areas and some remote parts of the Andes.
