The cost of living in Liberia is $530USD, which is 1.39 times less expensive than the world average. Liberia ranked 168th out of 197 countries by cost of living and the 159th best country to live in. The country is ralatively cheap.

You can live decently for about USD18 per day. However, pricing may vary depending on the tourism demand and the level of local development. The average budget in USD in Liberia is as following:

  • 600USD per month for a single person;
  • 1500USD per month for a couple;
  • 2000USD per month for a family with two children will do.
  1. Clothing: Cost is low for items such as business, casual and children's clothing and footwear. Average price for an international brand of mens jeans is USD$35, a quality international brand of running shoes USD$68, mens leather shoes suitable for office wear USD$81 while a medium size international summer dress from a global chain store is USD$41.
  2. Communication: Cost is average for various communication costs such as home telephone rental, internet subscription, mobile service provider tariff and data costs. Average price for a monthly standard plan internet subscription is USD$90, while the benchmark mobile tariff is USD$0.14 per minute.
  3. Groceries: Cost is reasonably low for items such as consumables, cleaning products, dairy, fresh fruit and vegetables, general food products, snacks, soft drinks. Monthly Budget

Those interested in simple living should budget between $500 or less monthly. Generally, this budget allows for bus rides and the occasional taxi, big trips to the farmers' market and a few restaurant meals each month. While you can choose to live in relative luxury, employing full-time housekeepers, commuting by car, enjoying exquisite homes and consuming imported goods such lifestyles can easily amount to $900 or more monthly.
