About Chile:

Situated south of Peru and west of Bolivia and Argentina, Chile fills a narrow 2,890-mi (4,566 km) strip between the Andes and the Pacific. One-third of Chile is covered by the towering ranges of the Andes (long range mountains). Today Chile is one of South America's most stable and progressive nations, a recognized middle power and an emerging economy. It leads Latin American nations in human development, competitiveness, income per capita, globalization and economic freedom amongst other fronts.

About the city:

Copiapó is a city in northern Chile’s Atacama Desert. It prospered after silver was found at nearby Chañarcillo in the 19th century. Landmarks from that period include the neoclassical Copiapó Cathedral, with a distinctive 3-tiered tower. Nearby, the Casa de los Hermanos Matta houses the Atacama Regional Museum with a collection of pre-Hispanic artifacts and exhibits on the area’s mining history.
