The capital city is well-known for its beautiful architecture and rich culture. This city, which was built in the 17th century, used to be the capital of Bengal. Undoubtedly, Dhaka is a hot spot among tourists in southern Asia. Many foreigners go to Dhaka for the nightlife.
How to Get Alcohol
Since Dhaka is a Muslim city, it can be a hassle to get your hands on alcohol. However, if you know where to look, you can obtain illicit drinks. For example, if you are at a good hotel, you can ask the bell boy to serve you your favourite drink.
Many of the top hotels in Dhaka are permitted to serve alcohol to tourists and international visitors. If you can’t get alcohol from your hostel, you will need to go to bars and clubs in Dhaka and Chittagong, which is nearby.
Just bear in mind that Dhaka isn’t incredibly safe, so you should be careful who you talk to at night and where you head. There’s a a foreigners scene in Dhaka with plenty of partying and drinking.
However, most students in Dhaka choose to head back to their hostels early. You can expect to spend less money on alcohol from bars in Dhaka and Chittagong than on alcohol from 5-star hotels like Sonargaon and Sheraton.
How to Enjoy the Nightlife
While there is a nightlife in Dhaka, this form of nightlife is not for everyone. Whether you enjoy the nightlife in the capital will depend on what you’re used to and what you’ve enjoyed in the past. There are social clubs here that are open to the public.
However, these social clubs are typically used for birthday parties, wedding ceremonies, and other large gatherings. As stated above, since Bangladesh is an Islamic country, you’ll have a hard time finding alcoholic drinks, which can make the nightlife in Dhaka more difficult to explore.
Going to Members-Only Clubs
If you are able to get into members-only clubs, the nightlife in the country will be markedly better for you. IC, found in the capital, is one example of a members-only club. Every weekend, there are sizzling parties that involve dancing and drinking.
Unfortunately, it is nearly impossible to become a member of this club unless if you are a corporate or diplomat. However, you can buy a pass or ticket for the evening to go to one of the organized parties.
The drinks inside IC and other members-only clubs are not highly-priced at all. Usually, one drink will cost you 125 taka converting to about USD 4.
